Preggers and the Prawn

Within the past 10 years there has been a growing fad that pregnant women should NOT eat seafood for the potential harmful effects it could have on the fetus growing inside you. However, most women don’t really know “why” its harmful and have chosen to swear off all seafood “just to be safe”. A couple [...]

A Little Restaurant Renovation

Aquariums may look good but they are a pain in the ass to organise. My week has been spent working on renovation projects in the restaurant and when we are finished in a couple of months time the place should be looking really good.
We started this process around six months ago now and really thought [...]

Hapuka

ut here today after a rich lunch I indulged in a nice bit of Hapuka on a spinach, boccochini, walnut and grape salad finished with a roast capsicum dressing….if you have never tried NZ grouper you should!

Now we are talking!

I just made the most delicious sandwich ever…trevella, philladelphia, eggplant pesto, tomato, cucumber and mixed leaves. If you are looking for a fishy alternative, I would highly recommend you try this sometime.

Check Julie [...]

Pushing on through service and my mind turned to food again. What to choose…let me see, fish? Since I had indulged myself on some pretty heavy food by my normal standards I fancied something a little lighter.
We had Jew Fish (or Dew according to my marine biologist friend) on the board so Ikaro knocked me up [...]

A late lunch

We had a long lunch meeting at Yellowfin and Campbell (our chef) put some lunch together for us all. I went with Blue Eye Trevela (not to be confused with Trevally) served on a grilled risotto cake with pancetta. The pancetta went uneaten but it was a very good lunch. I could get used to eating [...]

Day 1 – Nothing fishy in the fridge

I get up around 7am and quickly decide to go back to bed. Another night with less than five hours sleep and I really don’t feel all that great after last nights beers. Up again I have a quick conversation with the girlfirend and head out for a surf.
It is small; I really should have had [...]
